Frequently Asked Questions
Can you build a fireplace mantel around my gas fireplace?
Yes. Most of our mantel projects are built around an existing gas fireplace or insert. We'll take the fireplace specifications and required clearances into account when designing the new mantel.
Can you recess my TV above the fireplace?
Often, yes. We can design the fireplace wall around a recessed or surface-mounted TV, concealed wiring, shelving, and cabinetry. We'll also talk through TV height so the final layout is comfortable to actually use.
Can you build cabinetry on both sides of the fireplace?
Absolutely. Flanking cabinetry and shelving are one of the most common ways to turn a fireplace into a complete feature wall.
Can you work around existing stone or tile?
Usually, yes. Whether we keep it, frame around it, or coordinate new stone or tile depends on the existing fireplace and the design you want.
Do you install the stone or tile too?
Our focus is the carpentry — mantels, surrounds, cabinetry, shelving, panelling, and trim. If the project includes new stone or tile, we can coordinate the sequence with the appropriate trade.
How long does a fireplace wall take?
It depends on the scope. A simple mantel can be relatively quick, while a complete fireplace wall with cabinetry takes longer. Much of the work can happen before installation, which helps keep disruption inside your home to a minimum.
Can you match my existing trim or cabinetry?
In many cases, yes. We can work with the existing profiles, proportions, colours, and materials so the new fireplace carpentry feels connected to the rest of the room.
