A simple shelving project might be fairly straightforward, while a full fireplace wall with cabinetry, drawers, lighting, and custom finishes can become a much larger build. The biggest things that affect price are usually the size of the project, materials, number of cabinets and drawers, hardware, paint-grade vs. stain-grade finishes, integrated lighting, and how complicated the installation is.

Because of the wide range of projects we take on, giving a price range for custom built-ins is only really possible once we have learned the details of your project. The cost for custom built ins can range from anywhere from a couple thousand dollars to tens of thousands, depending on whether you want a simple bookshelf built-in or a complex piece of architectural millwork. How long does a built-in project take to complete?
The time it takes to build a custom built-in depends on a variety of factors... Your personal availability and schedule, holidays, material choice, size and built-in features as well as the timelines of your other tradespeople all make it hard to give an answer before we've had a conversation about your specific built-in project! In general however, we design, build and prep most materials at our shop, and then only interrupt your home with construction for the actual installation of your custom built-ins, which will normally only take a couple of days! Can you match existing cabinets and finishes?
Yes! One of the best parts of custom cabinetry and custom built-ins is we can usually create a near perfect color match to your existing cabinetry, trim or millwork. If an exact match isn't possible, we'll help you select a paired color / style that will perfectly complement your existing space, rather than fighting it!
Do you help with built-in design ideas? Do you work with designers?
Both. We're happy to provide suggestions and ideas based on your inspiration and our extensive experience building built-ins for Kelowna homeowners - and of course we are always happy to work with your chosen interior designer, architect or builder.
Can you build something from a photo or inspiration image?
Usually, yes. Inspiration photos are a great starting point. We can adapt the proportions, materials, storage, and construction details to suit your actual space rather than simply copying something that was designed for a different home.
What is your project lead time?
Great question. We take on a limited number of projects, and depending on the size and scope of existing custom projects, lead times can vary depending on the season / holidays / current projects. Send us a message and we'll let you know our current lead times on getting new custom built-ins.
