Not every project fits neatly into a category. A reading nook with built-in seating. A custom range hood surround. From one-of-a-kind architectural details to unusual built-ins and specialty woodworking projects, we love taking on custom carpentry work that doesn't fit neatly into a standard category. If you've got an idea but aren't sure how to bring it to life, we'd love to hear about it.

Some ideas don’t belong on a standard service list. They start with a strange corner, an inspiration photo, a sketch, or the simple question, “Can you build this?”
We take on one-off carpentry and architectural woodwork throughout Kelowna, especially when the project needs to fit a specific space, solve an awkward problem, or match the details already in the home.
The Kind Of Custom Projects We're Talking About...
Architectural Details
Custom kitchen range hood surrounds, paneled archways, secret doors, decorative screens, room dividers, and other one-off architectural elements.
Built-In Furniture
Window seats, banquettes, reading nooks, desks, benches, and furniture built directly into spaces where standard pieces don’t quite work.
One-Off Pieces
Custom cabinetry, consoles, shelves, and other pieces made for a specific room, wall, or purpose.

01
Custom Fit
Custom work lets us build around the dimensions, angles, walls, trim, and quirks that already exist instead of forcing a standard product to fit.
02
Perfect Details
Material, proportions, profiles, finish, and how the piece connects to the rest of the room can all be worked through instead of being limited by a catalogue.
03
One Of A Kind
Sometimes the project is too specific for off-the-shelf furniture or modular cabinetry. That’s exactly where custom carpentry makes sense.
There isn’t a standard price for non-standard work. The cost depends on the size of the project, material, complexity, finish, and how much fabrication and installation are involved.
The biggest things that affect price are:
• Size — overall project dimensions
• Material — paint-grade or hardwood
• Detail — simple or complex
• Finish — painted, stained, or natural
• Fabrication — shop time and joinery
• Installation — access and fitting
• Existing conditions — walls, floors, and trim
The fastest way to get a realistic number is to send photos, rough dimensions, and a description of what you’re imagining.
Every wall, room, and idea is different. A simple shelving project might be fairly straightforward, while a full fireplace wall with cabinetry, drawers, lighting, and custom finishes can become a much larger build.
If you send us a few photos of the space and a rough idea of what you’re hoping to build, we can usually help you get a much clearer sense of the scope before moving forward!

01
Show Us the Idea
Send photos of the space, inspiration images, measurements, sketches, or whatever you have. It doesn’t need to be fully figured out.
02
Create A Plan
We’ll talk through dimensions, materials, proportions, finish, how the piece will be used, and how it should relate to the surrounding room.
03
Build It
The piece or architectural detail is fabricated for the actual space rather than adapted from a standard size.
04
Install & Finish
Everything is fitted carefully, aligned, trimmed, and finished so it feels connected to the surrounding home. We protect the space and clean up properly when the work is complete.
We take on custom woodwork projects throughout Kelowna, including Upper Mission, Lower Mission, Glenmore, Wilden, Kettle Valley, Black Mountain, McKinley Landing, and Dilworth.

Yes. Inspiration photos, Pinterest images, rough sketches, and even a simple description are all useful starting points. We can work through the practical details from there.
Yes, depending on the condition and scope. Damaged trim, worn stair details, tired built-ins, and other architectural woodwork can sometimes be repaired or refreshed instead of replaced.
Often, yes. We can work with existing profiles, proportions, materials, and finishes so the new piece feels connected to the rest of the home.
Not as standalone furniture. We focus on pieces that are built into or attached to the home — things like window seats, banquettes, built-in desks, benches, shelving, and other fixed architectural elements. We don’t typically build freestanding tables, desks, or furniture pieces.

"We hired DiMarco Carpentry to do a built-in fireplace feature wall in our home and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! David worked with us to create exactly what we wanted, including recommending and installing a recessed TV and custom mantel. He was punctual, fair, and most importantly (to me) clean! He undoubtedly puts 150% effort into his work and the results speak for themselves. DiMarco Carpentry completely exceeded our already high expectations and we would highly recommend him and his business!"
